Local is the section the big outlets skip — and the reason AnyoneNews exists. It localizes automatically to wherever you are reading from, and you can pin it to your town.

How it finds your town The section uses your approximate network location (city-level, nothing stored about you). Enter a ZIP code to switch towns, or set a hometown on your profile to make it stick. The "News near you" cards pull from real local outlets and link straight to them.

Why local news matters Large parts of the country have lost their dedicated local paper, leaving whole counties with little day-to-day coverage of town boards, school districts, and main-street business. Aggregating what local outlets still report — and adding stories from residents themselves — is how a town stays informed.

Add to it This section runs on people like you: post a story about what is happening in your town, or add a happening to the Events calendar. Community stories appear alongside the wire with your byline.
