Millerton, New York is celebrating its 175th anniversary, and the festivities will carry a living link to the village's earliest days.

Patrick Doughty and Diane Doughty (now Diane Price), descendants of Levi P. Hatch, will be in attendance at the anniversary parade. Hatch, a druggist, was one of the seven founders who established the town.

Anniversaries like this one are a reminder that a town's history is not just in its records — it walks in its parades. One hundred seventy-five years on, the family line of one of Millerton's founders will be right there on the parade route.
